Blog Tour: Ripped by Katy Evans, Review

Ripped (Real, #5) Publication Date: December 9, 2014
Book 5 of the Real Series

Synopsis:

The fifth book in the New York Times new adult series that began with Real. When an angry, heartbroken girl is forced to be near her rocker ex-boyfriend, only time will tell if the fire between them will consume them both.

Pandora, the gothic friend of Brooke (Real, Mine, Remy) and Melanie, thought that getting her heart broken by her bad boy rocker ex could only happen once. But now, he's back in town with the biggest concert of the year. Pandora hates him so much that she gets Melanie to come with her and play a prank on him at his gig. But when they are caught by security, and her ex himself is summoned, he decides not to press charges if she'll follow certain conditions. Pandora likes none of his rules, or that he's in charge of her, especially since they seem designed to make sure she's in close contact with him again. But the closeness reignites the passion they once shared, and soon no matter how much she wants to hate him, it's clear she's still hung up on him. And worse: he knows it too.

My Review: ★★★★★ 5 stars

I really enjoyed RIPPED. Perhaps not as much as REAL (but come on... it started this awesome series! That was Remy, the alpha boxing hero who for me still holds the standard for brooding, fighter heroes!), but it nevertheless scores a 5 star for me. To be honest, I think the 4 - 4.5 stars are simply because readers got a taste of Remy in the first three books! wink

Now my 5 stars is mainly because of Pandora. She is an awesome character whom you'd just love to get to know. She has lots of layers and I wanted to peel them off bit by bit so I could see more of what she's made of. It was such a treat seeing the Pandora "before" seeing as we've seen a lot of the Pandora "after". It was almost like meeting two different people. How I wish she didn't have to go through all that heartache, but it simply wasn't the right time for her and Makenna to have their happy ending earlier on.

The very first moment it was hinted that this surly Goth girl became the way she is because of a broken heart, I was immediately curious about her story. I have to give Katy Evans props for coming up with this story for Pandora! From fighter to mafia king to rock star... her heroes' backgrounds are so diverse, but they still mesh very well with the overall feel of the series. And now we have Makenna.

He is a rockstar who oozes sex appeal and talent. Men and women alike admire him and yell for him whenever his band goes onstage. He is also the man who once held Pandora's heart--and the reason for it breaking and her building thick walls all over her persona. I could just imagine how painful it has been for her to have to suffer hearing his voice on the radio, on TV, and seeing his face all over the place. Sucks to have a famous person for an ex!

The synopsis pretty much says the premise for this book and the reason why these two people were brought back into each other's lives. It is just wonderful to see them both open up to each other again, have the patience and courage to hear each other out and find out the truth of what happened between the two of them many years before. The flashbacks were gems; I loved seeing how different their interactions with each other was "before" and now. The best part, I must say, is seeing them both very slowly forgive one another and eventually grow closer again. Of course, it's also sexy as can be expected from this author!

I definitely recommend RIPPED to everyone who loves romance! It's the type of second-chance love that you want to root for. It left me with a happy feeling in my heart, and that is absolutely the best part of reading a Katy Evans book!

About the Author:

Katy Evans grew up with books and book-boyfriends until she found a real sexy boyfriend to love. They married and are now hard at work on their own happily ever after.
